World Refugee Day - Events in Regina and Across Canada

On June 20, the world commemorates the strength, courage, and resilience of millions of refugees.

Regina:

Regina Open Door Society (RODS) wants to celebrate this day by sharing the stories of refugees in our community, as well as information about the refugee crisis from a Global, National, and local perspective.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, gathering for an in-person event is restricted. Instead, these stories and information will be displayed by the walking path on the West side of Wascana Lake.

On June 20th, RODS invites the Regina community to visit the displays to learn about the refugee crisis, discover stories of refugees in our community, and reflect on how you can get involved.
The displays will be up from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm.

On World Refugee Day, traditionally there would be many different events taking place across Canada to celebrate the resilience and courage of refugees around the world, and remember and honour all forcibly displaced people who are still in need of a durable solution. This year, there are a number of great events and activities that are happening in different parts of the country. Most of them are taking place virtually, which will allow us to easily “travel” and join online workshops and webinars in other cities and provinces!

UNHCR office in Canada has put together a list of World Refugee Day events taking place in Manitoba, Ontario, BC, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. Please visit their website for more information about each event: https://www.unhcr.ca/how-to- help/events/world-refugee-day/ world-refugee-day-events/
