 CRRF ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF A NATIONAL TASKFORCE TO COMBAT HATE CRIME

The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) is pleased to announce the formation of a joint task force which will be co-chaired by both the CRRF and the Royal Canadian Mountain Police (RCMP).

The announcement was made on March 22, at the summit for Hate Crimes in Canada, by the CRRF and the Chiefs of Police National Roundtable.

The task force will be focused on addressing hate crimes in Canada and will aim to create national standards to better support targeted communities across the country.

CRRF’s executive director, Mohammed Hashim was invited to speak on the The Globe and Mail’s podcast, The Decibel to further explain how the task force will work to combat hate crime in Canada.

Last month the Canadian Race Relations Foundation and The Globe and Mail held the national conference on Hate Crimes in Canada.

With panelists and experts from all across the country, the discussions were thought-provoking and provided valuable learnings on how to tackle and mitigate hate crime in Canada.

Be Part of the National Action Plan on Combatting Hate

The Government of Canada is launching consultations to build Canada's first ever National Action Plan on Combatting Hate. Every person in Canada is encouraged to participate.

This questionnaire will recognize the voices of those with lived experiences, including First Nations, Inuit, Métis, Black, Asian, Latinx, Arab, Muslim, Jewish, and racialized and faith-based communities, alongside newcomers, women, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ persons.

To participate in these consultations, people are encouraged to fill out an online questionnaire by April 30, 2022.

La FCRR a le plaisir d'annoncer la création d'un groupe de travail conjoint qui sera coprésidé par la FCRR et la Gendarmerie royale du Canada (GRC).

L'annonce a été faite le 22 mars, lors du sommet sur les crimes haineux au Canada, par la FCRR et la Table ronde nationale des chefs de police.

Le groupe de travail se concentrera sur la lutte contre les crimes haineux au Canada et visera à créer des normes nationales pour mieux soutenir les communautés ciblées à travers le pays.

Nous avons passé une journée inoubliable le mois dernière à la conférence nationale de la Fondation canadienne des relations raciales et du Globe and Mail sur les crimes haineux au Canada.

Avec des panélistes et des experts de tout le pays, les discussions ont suscité la réflexion et nous ont permis d'acquérir des connaissances précieuses sur la façon de lutter contre les crimes haineux au Canada et de les atténuer.

Le gouvernement du Canada lance des consultations pour élaborer le tout premier Plan d’action national de lutte contre la haine au Canada.
