Story Shares is a nonprofit literacy organization dedicated to inspiring a love of reading across the globe. This comprehensive literacy resource leverages technology, community, and best practices in literacy to support struggling readers in middle school, high school, and beyond.

The annual Story of the Year Contest is back!  This contest gives opportunity to share fresh, diverse stories for teens and adults that are easy to read, but hard to put down. The goal is to encourage generating irresistible books at all interest & reading levels to fill the empty shelf in the global library.

The contest has a number of categories:

Diversity Grand Prize: $2,000 plus publication in digital & print. 
Seeking culturally relevant and inclusive stories that highlight the broad range of human backgrounds and experiences.

Fifty States Award: $1,000 plus publication in digital & print.
From the salmon-swollen rivers of Alaska to the skyscraping towers of New York, stories set against intimate real-life settings here in the US are wanted.

Coming of Age Award: $1,000 plus publication in digital & prin.
True stories presented in compelling and engaging ways - accurate information bundled into a riveting tale.

Creative Non-fiction: $1,000 plus publication in digital & print.
No matter how old we become, there is something relatable about coming of age tales. From classroom assignments to broken hearts, these stories are timeless.
