Starting Highschool in Canada? Newcomer Orientation Workshops being held by Zoom!

Orientation Workshops for Newcomers (OWN) is a program for newcomer high-school students.

Students will benefit by gaining a better understanding of their school and adapt to school life in Canada. This will help them to be more self-reliant and confident, and gain an improved sense of identity and belonging so feel comfortable to become more involved in the school culture/events. New students will gain skills to be more successful academically and socially.

SSWIS (Settlement Support Workers in Schools) has recruited senior high school students to become Peer Leaders. They will mentor and assist newcomer youth during the 2021-2022 school year with high school integration and familiarization with Canadian Culture.

The OWN events will be held from August 16th to 31st, 1:00 - 3:00 pm. They will take place by Zoom and feature information on different high schools in Regina.
