RRLIP is sharing the following announcements from IRCC:
- Canada takes action to support housing with new immigration measures: On March 7, 2025, the Honourable Marc Miller, former Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced the government’s intent to introduce a number of new measures to support Canada’s construction industry. These measures are within the scope of the 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan. They include the convening of a tripartite advisory council to assess needs in the industry and advise on new pathways to bring in the skilled workers we need, a regularization pathway for out-of-status construction workers, and support for foreign apprentices. - Canada announces 2025 Express Entry category-based draws, plans for more in-Canada draws to reduce labour shortages: On February 27, 2027, the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship announced the 2025 Express Entry categories, which include a new education category, to align the selection of federal economic immigrants with Canada’s long-term labour shortages.For 2025, the focus of the federal economic class draws will be to invite candidates with experience working in Canada (Canadian Experience Class) to apply for permanent residence. - Canada extends some temporary measures for Ukrainians: On February 27, 2025 IRCC announced that Ukrainians and their family members who arrived in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) on or before March 31, 2024, will now have until March 31, 2026, to apply for a new open work permit valid for up to three years, renew an existing work permit, or apply for a new study permit, subject to standard fees.
