Earth Day Spring Crocus Walk: Discover Regina’s New Biodiversity Reserve

Celebrate Earth Day by stepping into spring with Nature Regina’s 3rd Annual Spring Crocus Walk at Regina’s newest Biodiversity Reserve, located along Wascana Creek between Lewvan Drive and Sandra Schmirler Way. This special place—designated a biodiversity reserve by Regina City Council in 2025—protects a rare patch of native prairie within city limits. Each spring, the land comes alive with crocuses, native grasses, and prairie flowers that have somehow persisted despite decades of change around them. It is both a scientific wonder and a quiet reminder of the prairie’s resilience.
🌾 What to Expect
Free guided walks through the reserve are offered at: 4:00 pm, 4:30 pm, 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm. These relaxed walks are family-friendly, come-and-go, and open to everyone. Whether you stay for one walk or linger to enjoy the prairie on your own, you are welcome.
