Help Make Our Communities Safer

The Saskatchewan Safety Council is looking for volunteers who are interested in sharing important safety information with people in communities across Saskatchewan.

Volunteers can get involved with programs such as Safe Saskatchewan Babysitter and Safe-Tea, helping deliver practical, easy-to-understand safety information to community members.

Safe Saskatchewan Babysitter

The Safe Saskatchewan Babysitter program is a completely free, 11-hour training course designed for youth ages 11 and older.

Volunteer instructors deliver an interactive and engaging course that helps participants learn about:

  • Childcare and age-appropriate safety information
  • Communicating effectively with parents
  • Preventing and responding to injuries
  • Managing challenges that may arise while babysitting

The Saskatchewan Safety Council provides volunteer instructors with training, participant manuals and PowerPoint presentations to help ensure consistent and quality information is delivered.

Safe-Tea

Safe-Tea is a volunteer-led informal speaker series that provides injury prevention and safety information to community residents in a clear and easy-to-understand format.

Although the program was developed with older adults in mind, the information shared is often useful for people of all ages. Safe-Tea presentations can also be adapted for new Canadian communities, as well as other groups and demographics.

Volunteer facilitators receive guidance and PowerPoint presentations from the Saskatchewan Safety Council for each topic.
