The Food Mentoring Toolkit by Saskatchewan Health Authority
Saskatchewan Health Authority’s Food Mentoring Toolkit
RRLIP is pleased to share the Food Mentoring Toolkit, a valuable resource developed by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) to support community organizations, non-profit agencies, staff, and volunteers who provide food and nutrition information to clients.
Created by SHA Public Health Nutritionists (Registered Dietitians), this evidence-based toolkit is designed to build capacity within organizations and promote supportive food environments. It offers practical guidance on a variety of topics, including Canada’s Food Guide, food label reading, menu planning, healthy eating practices, creating supportive food environments, and identifying trustworthy nutrition information.
Organizations serving communities across Saskatchewan can also access facilitator guides and interactive group activities to support staff training and client education sessions. In addition, the toolkit includes helpful supporting resources such as the Food Neutrality Handout and Get the Most Out of Your Food Budget guide, providing practical tips for making informed and affordable food choices.

We encourage settlement service providers, community organizations, and anyone supporting newcomers to explore these free resources and consider incorporating them into their programs. Together, we can help build healthier, more informed communities through accessible and reliable nutrition education.
