Labour Market Working Group
One of the local priorities highlighted in the Settlement Strategy and Action Plan 2020-2022 is Labour Market Access & Connections. The Labour Market Working Group is comprised of newcomer-serving agencies, and other local supports. Beginning in 2018, the working group planned an annual initiative to support this employment priority - Newcomer Employment Week/Semaine pour L'Emploi des Nouveaux Arrivants (NEW/SENA).
However, due to COVID-19, NEW/SENA 2020 could not occur. In an effort to continue to support Newcomers’ Labour Market Access & Connections, the working group has collaborated to create a newsletter resource for employers. The Newcomer Workforce: An Employer Resource highlights programs and resources that support the hiring and retention of a diverse workforce. The newsletters are available here.
Current Labour Market Working Group Members Include (Updated as of July 2021):
· Catholic Family Services – Newcomer Services
· Conseil économique et coopératif de la Saskatchewan
· Regina Immigrant Women Centre
· Regina Open Door Society
· Regina Public Library
