Labour Market Working Group
One of the local priorities highlighted in the Settlement Strategy and Action Plan 2020-2022 is Labour Market Access & Connections. The Labour Market Working Group is comprised of newcomer-serving agencies, and other local supports. Starting in 2018, the working group has planned an annual initiative to support this employment priority - Newcomer Employment Week/Semaine pour L'Emploi des Nouveaux Arrivants (NEW/SENA).
However, due to COVID-19, NEW/SENA 2020 could not occur. In an effort to continue to support Newcomers’ Labour Market Access & Connections, the working group has created a newsletter for employers. The Newcomer Workforce: An Employer Resource highlights programs and resources that support the hiring and retention of diverse workers. The first edition of our newsletter is available here.
Current Labour Market Working Group Members Include (Updated as of January 2021):
· Catholic Family Services – Newcomer Services
· City of Regina
· Conseil économique et coopératif de la Saskatchewan
· Regina Immigrant Women Centre
· Regina Open Door Society
· Regina Public Library
