International Transgender Day of Visibility: There Are Infinite Ways to Belong

Every year on March 31, International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) recognizes the lives, resilience, and contributions of transgender and non‑binary people, while also drawing attention to the barriers they continue to face globally.

At RRLIP, we work with newcomers who arrive with diverse experiences, identities, and stories. For many, resettlement already involves navigating unfamiliar systems, cultures, and expectations. For transgender and gender‑diverse newcomers, these challenges can be compounded by experiences of discrimination, invisibility, or fear of being unsafe.

Visibility matters because it affirms that everyone deserves dignity, safety, and respect—regardless of how they express themselves or identify. TDOV reminds us that creating welcoming spaces means listening, learning, and ensuring our services and communities are inclusive and affirming.

On this day, we celebrate diversity and recommit to building communities where newcomers can live openly, safely, and authentically—in all the infinite ways that make us human.
