Creating Shared Futures: Indigenous-Black Relations through Theatre

The RRLIP team is excited to share an inspiring new opportunity from Common Weal Community Arts as part of their Respond to Racism program. This winter, they are launching a multi-phase, community-driven project titled Creating Shared Futures, focused on strengthening Indigenous–Black relations through theatre. Registrations are open. Running from January to March 2026 in Regina, SK, Creating Shared Futures invites participants to explore storytelling, performance, and relationship-building through a series of hands-on workshops. These sessions will be facilitated by nationally and internationally recognized artists, offering learning in:
- Ethical relation-making
- Power play and decolonial frameworks
- Site-specific performance
- Collaborative theatre creation
With support from the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild, the project also features playwriting intensives, dramaturgy, and mentorship to help emerging and established artists grow their creative practice.
Successful applicants will receive a $1000 honorarium.
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to Indigenous and Black community members, and no prior theatre experience is required. Whether you are an artist, storyteller, community advocate, or someone simply interested in creative expression, this initiative welcomes you.
