Amplifying Newcomer Voices: Highlights from the RRLIP Immigrant Advisory Table Meeting
At the Regina Region Local Immigration Partnership (RRLIP), building a stronger, more inclusive Regina starts with listening to the voices of those who call our community home. On September 19, 2026, members of our Immigrant Advisory Table (IAT) gathered at the Regina Public Library from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM to connect, share experiences, and discuss key initiatives aimed at supporting newcomers.
Under RRLIP’s core commitment—Working With Community, For Community—the meeting served as an vital space to center newcomer voices and collaborate on meaningful solutions for local settlement and integration.
Key Meeting Highlights
The discussion focused on three primary areas critical to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment across Regina:
-
Addressing Community Challenges: Advisory members discussed the day-to-day realities facing immigrants and newcomers in the city, exploring how social, economic, and cultural barriers impact local integration.
-
Identifying Service Gaps: Participants highlighted existing gaps in local settlement services, opening up space to identify where additional support, resources, and policy advocacy are needed.
-
Planning Upcoming Events & Activities: The table brainstormed upcoming initiatives and community activities designed to foster deeper connection, cross-cultural understanding, and active participation across Regina.
Building a Stronger, More Inclusive Regina Together
The insights gathered from the Immigrant Advisory Table directly inform RRLIP’s ongoing work to ensure local services, community organizations, and city leadership reflect the true needs of our diverse population. By bringing together diverse lived experiences and community leadership, we continue working toward a Regina where every newcomer can thrive.
