Regina Public Library - Literacy Unit - Volunteers Needed!

Excerpted from The Regina Leader Post - Saturday Dec.5, 2015

The Literacy Unit at Regina Public Library (RPL) is  seeking volunteers to assist newcomers.

RPL helps newcomers learn English through a variety of means, including working with volunteer tutors and practising English skills in facilitated small-group settings.

There are now more than 250 people on the waitlist for a tutor, and that number is expected to increase in the coming months.

Volunteer tutors and smallgroup facilitators must have a Grade 12 diploma and meet a set of requirements. They are also required to take training, either online or in person. The time commitment for volunteers is about two hours per week.

To apply to become an RPL volunteer, visit www.reginalibrary.ca or call 306-777-6009.
