Free Library Program for Mothers and Young Children!

The ‘Learning Together’ program for immigrant mothers with babies and preschool children is held at the Regina Public Library.  One morning a week the mothers and children are taxied to a library.  An adult educator from Literacy Services teaches English to the mothers. Babies stay with their mothers until they are old enough to play with the other children who participate in planned activities in the playroom. Kindergarten children cannot attend – only preschoolers.

A social time is enjoyed before the taxies return participants to their homes.

This free program was started because many immigrant mothers find it impossible to enroll in traditional ESL classes since they lack transportation and childcare.  It gives mothers and young children a chance to meet others, get out of the house, have fun, and learn English.

Women must register at Literacy Services (upstairs at the Central Library - 2311 12th Ave).  They must show their Permanent Resident (PR) card and a piece of identification (ID) with their Regina address.

For more information, please contact Literacy Services – 306-777-6009
