We Speak Translate App - free webinar training on Dec 12. Register now! There are a few spots still available
The 'We Speak Translate Project' is a collaboration between Google Translate and the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA). It utilizes the Google Translate App for refugee resettlement and newcomer inclusion in communities. The project involves training community stakeholders, organizations and institutions in the Google Translate App.
The RRLIP (Regina Region Local Immigration Partnership) will be hosting Regina-specific training, with the next webinar session to be held Dec. 12/17 from 10:30 am - 11:30 am (Regina time) at the RRLIP office - 2220 - 12th Ave.
The We Speak Google Translate App training is free.
In the absence of a professional translator, and when complete accuracy isn’t necessary, the Google Translate App is a very helpful resettlement and integration tool to create moments of connection with newcomer populations (You can translate text, handwriting, photos and speech in over a hundred languages with the Google Translate App (different numbers of languages for different functions).
Not all world languages are available for translation, however Google Translate relies on its community of users to provide feedback about what languages are still needed. Google really wants feedback about the app.
The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria worked with Google to repurpose the existing Google Translate App to make it more user-friendly, and to provide the We Speak Translate App training to communities under the We Speak Translate Project
