Remembering The Rohingya - Protest Against Genocide - Aug. 25th
For decades, Rohingya Muslims have been forced to flee their villages in Myanmar’s Rakhine state, seeking refuge in neighboring countries, due to systematic discrimination, statelessness and targeted violence. Entire villages were burned to the ground, families were separated and killed, and women and girls were particularly targeted with extreme violence. Most of the people who escaped have been severely traumatized after witnessing unspeakable atrocities.
ICNA Sisters of Regina, with the support of the Rohingya Human Rights Network, the Karen Community of Regina and Amnesty International Regina invite the Regina community to join a peaceful protest, raising international awareness of the Rohingya Muslim refugee crisis.
Date: Sunday, August 25th
