Newcomer Story      'First Time Voting in an Election!'

On Friday, October 16, 2015, a whole family (6 people) got their new Canadian citizenship papers.

Forced to leave Bhutan, they lived in a refugee camp in Nepal for 22 years. not citizens anywhere.

In 2010 the family moved to Regina. Some took English classes at RODS (Regina Open Door Society)others went to public school or Sask.Polytechnic.

On Monday October 19, the new citizens voted for the first time. ‘Grandmother’ is 91!

How exciting to be able to help choose the Government of Canada and to live in peace and safety!!
