Free training session for groups working with settling newcomers - introducing a newcomer orientation video. May 31 - registration required
Regina Open Door, in collaboration with Jangles Production would like to invite organizations and groups working with newcomers to an IRCC funded training opportunity. The focus is on the sensitive issue of explaining Family Abuse and Parenting to newcomer families during their orientation to Canada.
Thursday, May 31 - 2 different sessions
- 8:30 am to 12 noon OR
- 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm

This training session, funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and is being conducted at immigrant serving organizations and other related agencies across the country.
The training is open to those in the settlement field especially orientation facilitators, along with those working in related sectors (i.e. - ESL Teachers, Victim Services, Social Workers, Police, etc.) and anyone who provides direct services to newcomers.
The training will introduce a recently produced newcomer orientation video on the subject of Family Abuse called “Welcome to the True North Strong and Free”.
The video is a significant additional resource as it provides a non-threatening intermediary approach in presenting the topic of Family Abuse in newcomer orientation.
