Employer Survey (Topic: Employing Newcomers – Barriers/Challenges)
The Regina Region Local Immigration Partnership (RRLIP) is a community initiative that brings together stakeholders to examine challenges, gaps and opportunities for newcomer settlement and integration in the Regina community and to develop local solutions.
The community (including hundreds of newcomers) identified local priorities to improve settlement and integration outcomes for newcomers:
- Canadian daily living
Through earlier local research, the RRLIP came to understand that 90% of community stakeholders surveyed indicated that accessing appropriate employment was the most important factor in the resettlement of newcomers in Regina.
Survey participants included those who employed, volunteered and/or worked with newcomers.
The findings also indicated that accessing employment in Regina required newcomers to have language skills and knowledge of workplace culture.
The goal of this survey is to better understand, from an employer’s perspective, the barriers and challenges involved in hiring and retaining newcomers in the local workforce.
Individual results of this survey will not be shared and employers will only be identified as a small, medium or large employer.
For the purposes of the RRLIP project, newcomer is defined as a foreign-born individual, currently residing in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The survey will take less than five minutes of your time.

The preliminary results of the survey will be shared with newcomers, employers and the broader community at the upcoming RRLIP Community Forum on March 20th (12:30 - 3 pm)
